Service Description

This 8-week professional development course is designed for educators interested in teaching ceramics at the K–12 level and beyond. Through hands-on studio practice and guided discussions, participants will explore how to design and implement engaging, skill-based ceramics curricula. Each week combines technique-based learning with strategies for classroom management and creative instruction. Students will build a foundation in essential ceramic processes—including wedging, pinch forming, coil and slab construction, solid sculpting, and wheel throwing—while also learning about kiln operation and firing procedures. The course emphasizes the full cycle of the ceramic process, from making to glazing, and provides space for participants to create lesson plans tailored to their own teaching environments. Whether you’re a classroom teacher, community educator, or artist looking to expand your teaching practice, this class offers the tools, structure, and support to help you bring clay confidently into your curriculum.
